Overview

The account heck products allow merchants to understand the identity of the individual they are transacting with online. This service verifies bank account details to determine ownership and the name that belongs to the account. Merchants can perform a simple Know Your Customer (KYC) check for onboarding, payment collection and refund issuance processes.

In H2 2025 — Yaspa is launching its new Intelligent Data product. This allows merchants to gain insights about the customer based on their banking data. This includes bank statements and using transaction categorisation to gain insights into the customer's banking behaviour — this is particularly relevant to sustainability checks in the iGaming sector.

How are the Account Checks done

The account check products use open banking to initiate a customer journey to ask for access to banking data. This product starts with an account check instruction from the merchant to Yaspa, and this will return a hosted journey URL to present to the customer.

The hosted journey will provide an explanation of consent to the customer, ask the customer to choose their bank, and then redirect the customer to their bank app. customers will typically access their bank app via biometric authentication and then the customer will be asked if they consent to share data within the bank app.

Upon completion of the approval process, Yaspa will share details with merchants via Yaspa webhooks — and the merchant is free to configure what information and what data they require via the Webhooks.
